COVID-19: EM BUSCA DE UMA VACINA

Reino Unido inicia nesta terça-feira (8) o plano de vacinação da população contra a covid-19.

O ministro da Saúde britânico, Matt Hancock, diz que se trata de um “momento histórico”, referindo-se à data como o “Dia V” [uma referência ao Dia da Vitória da II Guerra Mundial].

País europeu mais afetado pela pandemia (com mais de 61 mil mortos e mais de 1,7 milhão de casos de infeção), o Reino Unido é o primeiro país no mundo a autorizar a utilização da vacina anticovid-19 desenvolvida pelo grupo farmacêutico norte-americano Pfizer e pela empresa alemã BioNTech, e será o primeiro país ocidental a iniciar a sua campanha de vacinação.

Em comunicado divulgado no fim de semana, Matt Hancock informou que os primeiros grupos que vão receber a vacina serão “os mais vulneráveis e aqueles com mais de 80 anos”, bem como os funcionários de lares e residências seniores e do serviço de saúde público britânico (NHS, na sigla em inglês).

As especificidades da vacina Pfizer/BioNTech, que necessita de conservação a 70 graus negativos, representam um desafio logístico, disseram as autoridades sanitárias britânicas, acrescentando que as doses têm de ser transportadas por uma empresa especializada e que o descongelamento demora várias horas.

O Reino Unido encomendou 40 milhões de doses da vacina Pfizer/BioNTech, o que permite proteger 20 milhões de pessoas, uma vez que esta vacina se administra com duas doses.

Numa primeira fase, estarão disponíveis 800 mil doses no país.

Apesar da rapidez com que a agência reguladora britânica aprovou a vacina Pfizer/BioNTech, a diretora executiva do organismo, June Raine, reiterou que “os mais elevados padrões” internacionais foram aplicados.

  54. I agree whole heartedly to your reply, I lost my middle daughter in 1993 at the age of 8 years. It has been a long time but forever fresh in my mind. It has affected my other grown daughters, one 33 years old and the other 26. My relationship has been scarred with them, I love them dearly and will forever, I was not their for them for many years, I mean I was here but not in the composite a mother should be. I will forever have to live with this, I went to my 33 year old daughters for her 33rd Birthday and had such a revelation. As we sat at the kitchen table and I gave my daughter her Birthday card, My granddaughter Robyn asked me if I brought a gift for her mommy. I had put on the card a gift to follow in February, then Robyn proceeded to ask me if her mommy was adopted? I wanted to get up from the table and run away and cry my eyes out. It made me realise that this had to have been mentioned from her mother at some point. I went home and experienced extreme grief all over again, to realise just how much hurt my daughter Becky must be feeling. I cried for a week none stop, I think she really believes I love my other daughter so much more. I wish there was a book that teaches you how to deal with your surviving children. I love my children equally and will forever. I am so thankful for my girls, I just wish I had the right words to describe the pain I deal with on a constant basis. Wendy Boutiler!
